Associate in Science - Nursing Registered Nurse

Program Description

The Associate in Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) program provides quality educational opportunities for the student who is seeking to enter or advance in the nursing profession. The program uses a combination of lecture, laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction.

Program Information

This program is a limited access program, which means program admission and course registration are restricted to a limited number of students each semester due to accreditation requirements addressing student-faculty ratios and clinical resources. A student first will be admitted to Pensacola State College, and after satisfying all admission requirements for this program, the student is considered for admission to the ADN program. Application Transfer Pathways exist for students who have been admitted to the College and must complete any of the admission requirements. Students who do not have an earned Associate in Arts degree or earned baccalaureate degree may be placed in the Associate in Arts Pre-Nursing Advising Track. Students who do have an earned Associate in Arts degree or earned baccalaureate degree may be classified as non-degree seeking.

The Associate in Science in Nursing program has three options.

  • Traditional Day option - Accepts 80 students each Fall and Spring terms and 40 students each Summer term;
  • Evening and Weekend option – Accepts 40 students each Spring term; and
  • Career Mobility option – Accepts 40 licensed practical nurses each Fall term.

The graduate of the program that is seeking to become a licensed registered nurse is eligible to apply to the State Board of Nursing.

Each State Board of Nursing determines the graduate’s eligibility to take the licensure exam (NCLEX-RN). For more information, refer to Board of Nursing in the state you wish to have a license.
