Associate in Science - Health Services Management

Program Description

The Associate in Science degree in Health Services Management (HSM-AS) provides the student with the technical skills necessary become employed in the administrative support areas of the health field. Positions include professional duties in hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, pharmaceutical firms and doctor’s offices. Health Services Management professionals have little or no direct patient contact, but provide business and administrative services “behind the scenes” by managing insurance, payroll, patient admissions, billings, regulatory reports, marketing, auxiliary services and other similar administrative functions. The program uses a combination of lecture and laboratory instruction.

The Associate in Science degree in Health Services Management includes the College Credit Certificate in:

Health Care Services Specialist.

Program Information

A student first will be admitted to Pensacola State College, and after satisfying all admission requirements for this program, the student is considered for admission to the HSM-AS program.

Program Admission Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; and
  • College Application.

When the student has met the program admission requirements, the student’s application is evaluated by the Office of Admissions.

Program Progression Requirements

Progression through the Associate in Science degree in Health Services Management program requires the following.

  • A grade of C or higher in courses in the curriculum.

Program Completion Requirements

  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better in all courses applicable to the program of study.
  • Meet the academic residence requirement of completing at least 25% of the program with classes at Pensacola State College.
