ETD 2372C Advanced Rapid Prototyping

Parametric modeling skills with more advanced project applications in an environment that will foster a design community providing feedback and critique from classmates will be emphasized. Through cooperation with local manufacturing facilities, when available, students will be exposed to current industry practices and the latest technologies. Students will explore computer simulation and design analysis of rapid prototyping and learn the relationships of physical prototyping to the design industry by examining case studies and their own prototype creations. Students will be able to present their creativity, design abilities, and scanning and printing skills through problem solving projects utilizing a variety of 3D printers and scanners and CAD software. This course will prepare students for SME's Additive Manufacturing Certification.
