FASAP Statuses Defined
Financial Aid Warning
When a student fails to meet FASAP, that student will be placed on Financial Aid Warning for the immediate following semester of enrollment. During the Financial Aid Warning semester the student will be eligible to receive federal financial aid. The student in the Financial Aid Warning status will be given the opportunity during that semester to regain the required standards of satisfactory academic progress for financial aid purposes. If the student is unable to meet those required levels at the end of the WARNING semester, all federal and state aid will be suspended.
Financial Aid Suspension
A student on Financial Aid Warning who fails to meet FASAP at the end of the warning term will be placed on Financial Aid Suspension and all federal and state aid eligibility will be suspended until the student meets the minimum FASAP requirements. A student who does not have sufficient potential remaining aid eligibility to complete their program of study prior to reaching maximum time frame limits (150% of the number of required credits for their program) will have their aid suspended based on the federally required Program Integrity regulations implemented July 1, 2011. No further federal or state aid will be awarded students who are suspended. Students whose progress was negatively impacted by circumstances beyond their control resulting in suspension may file an appeal to have aid eligibility reinstated until such time as they either regain the required standards of progress or complete their program of study. Filing an appeal does not guarantee that the appeal will be approved.
Financial Aid Probation
Probation is the status of a student who has successfully appealed for federal aid reinstatement after suspension of eligibility. During the time frame that the student status is FA Probation, the student will be required to complete 100% of their enrollment and earn, at minimum, a 2.0 grade point average in period of enrollment. No withdrawal or incomplete grades may be assigned during FA Probation without resulting in the student’s status returning to SUSPENSION. In some cases the required grade point average for a semester may be higher than 2.0 in order for the student to have the required grade point average to graduate within the specified time frame. The conditions required of a student on an approved appeal are documented in the Student Record System and mailed to the student. Their approved appeal conditions and their degree audit for their program of study are considered their approved educational plan for successful completion of the program of study.
Monitoring Financial Aid Progress
Each financial aid recipient will have progress monitored at the end of the term in which the first credit hour is attempted. If, at the end of that term, the student has not met the required standards, the student will be placed on Financial Aid Warning for one semester. (See Required Standards.) If the student does not achieve FASAP at the end of the Warning semester, eligibility for federal and state financial assistance will be suspended until the student's progress improves and returns to FASAP status of OK. Note: A transfer student's eligibility for all federal aid including Direct Loans is based on their evaluated transfer credits (plus any previously attempted credits at this College). These credits are used to establish their cumulative grade point average and completion rate as documented in the student's record in the College Record System.
